The Mestis team Joensuun Kiekko-Pojat adds experienced Risto Dufva to its ranks, who joins the coaching staff for the remainder of the season. He will support head coach Juha-Matti Kemppainen and assistant coach Mikko Rämö.

Dufva has won five Mestis championships and one Liiga championship in his career. Last season, he led Jokerit to the Mestis championship.

– It’s really great to have Risto join the coaching team. He brings a tremendous amount of experience and leadership, knowing what it takes to succeed. I believe that by strengthening this coaching team, we will enable the achievement of our goals, says Kiekko-Poikien manager Jaakko Lipponen.

JoKP aims for Liiga next season. Achieving this goal requires either the Mestis championship or a place in the finals if Jokerit advances to the final match.

– Not everything should be changed on such a short timeline. I want to bring my experience from various situations to the team and coaching, Dufva commented.

In Liiga, Dufva has previously coached JYP, Lukko, Tappara, Jukurit, and Sport.
