Jokerit has made a one-year contract with defender Olli Juolevi, the club announced on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old Juolevi is a product of East Helsinki Kiekko, but moved to Jokerit at a young age and represented the club in his junior career all the way to the U20 SM series until the 2014–2015 season.

During the last three seasons, Juolevi has played for Tappara, where he returned mid-season 2023–2024 from the Swedish team Timrå IK. In the league, he has accumulated 105 regular season games with TPS and Tappara, and he has celebrated the Finnish championship twice in 2024 and 2026.

– You could see from a young age that Olli understands the game in an exceptional way. His hockey sense is indeed his absolute strength. If he stays in shape, he is one of the best defenders in the league, describes Jokerit’s sports director Olli-Pekka Yrjänheikki.

Juolevi himself says he is looking forward to returning to his old club motivated and ambitious.

– For me, representing Jokerit is a big deal. Of course, we also have big goals as a team. We have many good players, so we need to have high targets right from the start, he states.
