Lenni Hämeenaho‘s journey in the NHL ended in disappointment on Thursday evening. The New Jersey Devils announced that they have sent the Finnish forward to the AHL with the Utica Comets.
The 21-year-old Finnish prospect played nine games in the NHL, where he recorded 2+2 points.
Hämeenaho started the season in Utica, playing 33 games with stats of 9+12=21. In January, the young forward’s strong performances earned him an NHL opportunity.
Before moving to North America, Hämeenaho played three seasons in the Liiga with Porin Ässät. Last season was his breakthrough: he scored 51 points (20+31) in 58 games.
