The ice hockey clubs TPS and TUTO in Turku are receiving a reprimand from hockey expert Ismo Lehkonen regarding their current performance.

According to Lehkonen, the current level of clubs operating in the Liiga and Mestis does not meet the criteria for a market area the size of Turku.

– Mainly as a general overview from Turku: if we look at youth activities, the Tepsin C-juniors went to Oulu and lost by more than ten goals. TUTO’s youth work and representation is what it is, Lehkonen criticizes in his Kalju Corner podcast.

– Yes, ice hockey in Turku is currently in a certain kind of shameful position. I see it as that TPS should be competing for positions 1-4 and TUTO for positions 1-3 in Mestis, Lehkonen believes.

The hockey expert is particularly concerned about the youth work of both Turku clubs.

– Then the youth work should be such that Palloseura’s A-, B-, and C-juniors play for medals year after year, and that should be supported by TUTO’s youth work.

However, the biggest blame points towards the club management.

– Yes, here in Turku, starting from sports management, we are quite behind, Lehkonen concludes.
