IS: Tappara made a top acquisition from another Liiga team!
Defender Niclas Almari, who represented Lukko for the last four and a half seasons, will move to Tappara for the next season, reports Ilta-Sanomat.
Almari, 27, served as Lukko’s alternate captain for the last two seasons. This season, he played 49 regular season games with a scoring record of 3+12=15 and four playoff games without any points.
Last season was Almari’s best in the Liiga. He recorded 33 points in 60 games with a scoring record of 6+27=33 and had the best plus-minus rating in the entire league at an impressive +38. During that season, Almari also made it to the national team.
In the Liiga, Almari has also represented Pelicans and HPK. He won the Finnish championship with HPK in the spring of 2019.
Before moving to Lukko, Almari played as a contracted player for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the AHL and ECHL. He did not accumulate any NHL games.
