IS: Jukka Jalonen comments on Jokerit rumors directly: “I have announced”
Jukka Jalonen has emerged in speculation as one option for the head coach of Helsinki Jokers, but the coaching legend himself dismisses the idea quite bluntly.
Jalonen commented on the situation in the descriptions of Diili and made it clear that he is not currently planning to coach in Finland.
– I have announced that I won’t be coaching in Finland. There is enough to do in my advisory role with the club, Jalonen said to Ilta-Sanomat.
The coaching situation of the Jokers has become a topic of discussion after the club suffered five consecutive losses. Tomek Valtonen‘s position as the head coach is shaky.
Jalonen is serving this season as an advisor for sports operations at HPK. He is part of the club’s sports management committee, where his son Jimi Jalonen also works as a player coordinator.
– I am a coach, and I think it’s important that all current league coaches are given peace to work. They shouldn’t have to read in the media that their own club has been asking about me for a job.
Jalonen’s message regarding the rumors about the Jokers is even more straightforward.
– This is basically it. Hopefully, no one will ask, Jalonen continues.
Last season, Jalonen coached the Italian national team and publicly stated at that time that his coaching career might be coming to an end.
However, in the spring, he hinted that his career might not necessarily be over after all. At the same time, Jalonen clarified that any potential continuation would take place abroad.
