IS: A scandal brews in the League finals – this is how KooKoo’s coaching commented on the matter
Tappara equalized the finals series on Monday night to 3–3, as the Tampere team secured a 2–1 away victory against KooKoo.
Tappara’s winning goal sparked a lot of discussion during and especially after the match, as Aapeli Räsänen‘s goal may have been preceded by an offside.
KooKoo, however, did not challenge the situation as offside.
– We analyzed it very closely, but the moment of crossing the blue line was missed between the frames, KooKoo’s video coach in the upper stand, Manu Lähteenmäki, said to IS.
– Apparently, the frames were not sufficient there. We couldn’t or didn’t dare to challenge, KooKoo’s head coach Jouko Myrrä explained the lack of challenge.
From any of the images, it was not clear which crossed the line first, the skate or the puck.
In that situation, Tappara’s defender Daniel Brickley brought the puck into the offensive zone on the right side. At the same time, his teammate Justin Addamo crossed the blue line.
In the images, Addamo’s skate was still just barely over the blue line, as was the puck. In the next frame, both were over. The skate was clearly over more than the puck.
