Canadian forward Mike O’Leary, 27, who played for Ilves in the latter part of the last two seasons, is returning to North America for the next season. ECHL team Tahoe Knight Monsters has signed a one-year contract with O’Leary.

Last season, O’Leary started in North America playing 14 games in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades, scoring 1+9 points, and 12 games in the AHL with the Milwaukee Admirals without any points. He moved to Ilves in January and played 18 regular season games in the Liiga, scoring 1+3 points, and four playoff games without any points.

The season before last, O’Leary transferred from AHL team Iowa Wild to Ilves in February. At that time, he played seven regular season games with the Tampere team without any points and five playoff games, scoring 0+1 points.

O’Leary has played 190 AHL games in his career.
