IL: TPS made a huge splash with three major acquisitions at once!
TPS is assembling a high-level team for the upcoming season. Iltalehti reports on three top-level reinforcements in the latest Lätkäpodissa.
According to Iltalehti, forwards Lars Bryggman and Joona Ikonen as well as defenseman Niklas Friman are moving to TPS.
Bryggman is best remembered for his three seasons with Pelicans. In his best season 2024-25, he scored 49 points with 23 goals and 26 assists in 52 games.
This season, Bryggman has played in the SHL with Skellefteå. In the regular season, he collected respectable stats of 10 goals and 11 assists for 21 points in 47 games. In the playoffs, Bryggman raised his game and scored 5 goals and 3 assists in ten games.
Ikonen, on the other hand, has made a strong impact earlier in his career with Ilves. However, the two seasons in Malmö have been difficult. This season, the crafty winger managed a modest 2 goals and 6 assists for 8 points in 52 games.
Friman has played in the KHL with Jokerit, won a championship with HPK, and wore the captain’s C in Ilves. This season, he has played in the Swiss top league with HC Ajoie. In 31 games, the defenseman recorded 1 goal and 2 assists with a plus/minus of -17.
