IL: This is how much Doug Shedden earns in Finland
Vaasan Sport announced the biggest hockey news of the week on Tuesday, as the iconic Doug Shedden, 64, was hired as the head coach for the remainder of the season.
According to Iltalehti reports, Shedden has had connections to Finland in recent years, but his salary expectations have been too high for Liiga clubs.
However, in the case of Sport, Shedden came down on his salary expectations, as estimates from Iltalehti‘s insider information suggest that the Canadian coach will net around 100,000 euros for the remainder of the season.
Shedden’s salary level is still far from the earnings of the top coaches in the Liiga. For example, Tappara’s Rikard Grönborg nets over 300,000 euros annually.
Shedden is remembered in the Liiga from 2005-08, when he coached HIFK and Jokerit. The outspoken coach also led the Lions for one season.
In the last two seasons, Shedden served as the head coach of the German Iserlohn Roosters. In addition to Germany, he has experience from Switzerland, Slovakia, and the Canadian national team.
