Defender Niklas Friman is returning to TPS for the next season, reports Iltalehti.
The 32-year-old Friman has played this season in the Swiss top league for HC Ajoie, but he has not accumulated playing time consistently. Friman has had to watch several matches from the stands due to Switzerland’s foreign player quota.
The Turku club is already familiar to Friman: he made his SM-liiga debut in a TPS jersey during the 2011–2012 season. Throughout his career, he has also played for HPK, JYP, Ilves, and Jokerit in the KHL, as well as spending a season in Sweden with Brynäs.
With the national team, Friman won both Olympic gold and the World Championship with the Lions in 2022.
