IL: Petri Matikainen drafted a new contract!
JYP, currently at the top of the league standings, has signed a significant contract.
According to information obtained by Iltalehti from several sources, JYP has extended the contract with head coach Petri Matikainen. IL reports that the entire JYP coaching staff has received contract extensions with the club.
Matikainen, 58, moved to JYP as head coach this season on a one-year contract. The team has started impressively under Matikainen, winning seven out of nine matches. Currently, three JYP players are in the top five of the league’s scoring leaderboard.
In the league, Matikainen has previously coached Blues, HIFK, Pelicans, and briefly Kärpät at the end of last season. He has also served as head coach in the KHL, Switzerland, and Austria. In the national team, Matikainen has worked as an assistant coach.
