IL: League star disappeared from the lineup in the World Championships – a happy reason behind it
KooKoo’s silver medalist this season Vilmos Gallo is currently representing Hungary at the ongoing World Championships. Hungary has played five matches in the tournament, but Gallo has only been in the lineup for two of them.
Gallo was still absent from Hungary’s opening match against Finland, as KooKoo’s season had just ended a few days prior. After that, Gallo was included in Hungary’s lineup against Austria and Great Britain.
Since then, Gallo has not played in this week’s Friday match against Germany or Saturday’s match against Switzerland. Iltalehti asked Hungary’s head coach Gergely Majoross if Gallo has been benched. However, there is a joyful reason behind Gallo’s absence.
– No. His wife gave birth today, so congratulations to them. The baby has been born. Our family is growing, and we are happy about that, Majoross said.
This is Gallo and his wife Zsofia’s first child.
Gallo, 29, scored 38 points in 58 regular season games with KooKoo last season, with 13 goals and 25 assists, and had 12 points in 18 playoff games with 4 goals and 8 assists. Gallo has played four seasons with KooKoo and will continue with the team next season as well.
