The Jokerit, returning to the Liiga next season, strengthens its team for the upcoming season with a very experienced returnee.

According to Iltalehti, Jokerit has signed a multi-year contract with Markus Hännikäinen, 32, who has played 91 NHL games with the Columbus Blue Jackets in his career.

Hännikäinen, currently representing HC Litvinov in the Czech top league, is a player who has gone through the Jokerit junior system and previously represented the club in both the Liiga and KHL. Before this season, he played for over two years with Adler Mannheim in the DEL.

In the Liiga, Hännikäinen has represented, in addition to Jokerit, JYP and HPK. In the national team jersey, the forward has played in one World Championship.
