Hit or miss? Jokerit released a special jersey for the Stadin derby
The Jokerit will play a local match against HIFK on Thursday in a special game jersey. The Helsinki club has unveiled a specially designed jersey for the match, inspired by the world of playing cards.
The jersey features all four suits of a deck of playing cards: hearts, spades, diamonds, and clubs. The playing card theme extends to the details as well, with player numbers and the jersey text rendered in a font that mimics the typography of playing cards.
This is the first time that the Jokerit’s game jersey prominently incorporates a playing card theme.
However, the new game outfit is not completely detached from history. The color scheme and layout of the elements have also drawn inspiration from the Jokerit’s game jerseys from the 1970s and 1980s.
– The idea was to create a jersey for the local game that immediately feels like Jokerit, but looks completely different from a traditional game jersey, explains Jokerit’s Creative Specialist Ville Leino in the club’s press release.
