HIFK’s new reinforcement still sidelined – now the return schedule has been revealed
HIFK will start its Liiga season on Friday when it faces HPK at home starting at 19:30.
In connection with its lineup, HIFK informed about the team’s injury situation. Currently, the injured players are defensemen Ilari Melart and Jesper Ahlroth, as well as forward Sebastian Repo.
Of the trio, Ahlroth, 24, moved to HIFK from KooKoo last summer. He was injured in last spring’s finals against Tappara and has not been able to return to action since. Now, HIFK’s website reveals that Ahlroth is expected to return to the ice in week 39, which is in three weeks.
Ahlroth played two seasons with KooKoo, achieving silver last spring. He played 57 regular season games last season, scoring 5+16=21 points, and 15 playoff games without any points.
Regarding HIFK’s other injured players, Melart is expected to return to play in week 38, which is in a couple of weeks. Earlier, HIFK announced that Repo will be out for three months and is expected to return in November.
