HIFK’s latest stunt drove fans to the brink of rage: “F*** what a disgrace”
The HIFK press conference on Monday turned out to be quite a flop.
Many expected the league’s bottom team to announce new player signings in front of a large group of reporters, but that did not happen.
During the press conference, HIFK’s sports director Janne Pesonen stated the already known fact that the team needs a goalkeeper, a defender, and a couple of forwards.
After Pesonen’s comments, it was clear that no new signings would be announced on Monday.
In addition to Pesonen, head coach Olli Jokinen and the club’s board chairman Jaakko Eskola spoke at the event. Jokinen took the blame for the team’s current situation heavily upon himself.
The confusing press conference lasted only 15 minutes. It offered nothing concrete regarding HIFK’s situation.
– I understood that the invitation stated that the media was called here regarding this situation. We have not organized such an event for player announcements before, Pesonen explained to the reporters present, who were surely puzzled by the event’s meager content.
Among HIFK fans, the press conference was seen as a humiliating failure.
