Ilves’ Swedish defender Simon Johansson, 25, continues his career in Switzerland as he joins EHC Kloten on a two-year contract. The contract will take effect in the 2026/27 season.
Johansson is playing his third season with Ilves. He has played a total of 143 regular season games in the Liiga (36+58=94) and 21 playoff games (3+10=13).
Johansson currently leads the Liiga’s defensemen scoring chart with stats of 19+21=40.
– Simon is a strong offensive defender with excellent technical skills and strengths in numerical play and game initiation, comments EHC Kloten’s sports director Ricardo Schöder.
Urheilucastin host Esko Seppänen stated that Helsinki IFK was also actively interested in Johansson for their team next season.
