HIFK played a tough game behind the scenes – KalPa’s star player is sidelined!
The league announced on Sunday evening that KalPa’s star forward Patrick Curry has been suspended.
The league’s disciplinary delegation imposed a two (1+1) game suspension on Curry due to incidents from Saturday’s game. The penalty consists of two separate situations where Curry was deemed guilty of kicking and a leg sweep.
HIFK submitted both situations for disciplinary review on Sunday in accordance with the rules.
In the first case, a possible kicking motion was examined that occurred during a collision between Curry and Jori Lehterä in the neutral zone. In the situation, Curry’s skate rose to the height of Lehterä’s knee, raising suspicion of dangerous movement.
The second situation was seen behind KalPa’s goal, where Curry battled for the puck with Sebastian Revon. Based on video review, Curry swept Revon down with his leg.
No penalties were called for either situation during the game, but subsequent review led to disciplinary actions.
