The league’s bottom battle between HIFK and Ilves at the Helsinki Ice Hall ended with HIFK winning 6–1.

HIFK’s standout player was Daniel Mäkiaho, who scored two goals and provided two assists.

– A really relieving victory. We scored the goals from the last three games in this one game. We were effective and played a good game, Mäkiaho reflected after the game.

Mäkiaho, who took on responsibility in the first line, has not celebrated such four-point nights before.

– It was a funny day that everything worked out. I’m happy that I now have more responsibility and that I was able to take advantage of the opportunity, Mäkiaho rejoiced.

HIFK’s routine has been fragmented in recent weeks due to a very difficult injury situation.

– It’s challenging when we haven’t been able to practice properly and players keep dropping out. However, we can’t affect that, so we look forward, Mäkiaho noted.

The victory gives the Helsinki team confidence for the future.

– We were effective today, but in the last period, our defense faltered a bit. But let’s carry that effectiveness with us.
