Porin Ässät announced their captaincy for the upcoming Liiga season 2025-26.

Jan-Mikael Järvinen continues as the captain of Ässät for his second season. The alternate captains are Rami Määttä, Peter Tiivola, Kasper Puutio, and Oskar Nilsson.

– A good captaincy has a suitable variety of different ages of players, various playing strengths, and different personalities. These aspects create a good whole, which is rightfully led by Jan-Mikael Järvinen, commented Ässät’s head coach Jarno Pikkarainen in the club’s press release.

Järvinen, 37, had the best season of his Liiga career, with 60 games resulting in 9+45=54 points. He was also seen at the end of the season wearing the national team jersey at the spring World Championships. Järvinen is now starting his fourth season in Pori.

Määttä, starting his eighth season in the Ässät organization, served as the team’s alternate captain last season. Tiivola, who returned to Pori last season, is now making a return to the captaincy, having last served in that role during the 2020-21 season.

Puutio, starting his second season with Ässät, has been named to the captaincy for the first time in Liiga. Nilsson, a new addition to Ässät, is the team’s first foreign member of the captaincy since the 2012-13 season and Stephen Dixon.
