Here is HPK’s new captain!
HPK announced its captaincy for the 2026-27 Liiga season on Wednesday. The team’s new captain is forward Anrei Hakulinen, who replaces Petteri Nikkilä, who has left the club.
Hakulinen, 36, is starting his second season with HPK. Last season, he served as HPK’s alternate captain. Hakulinen has also previously been the captain of Lukko in the Liiga for two seasons.
HPK’s alternate captains for the upcoming season are Sami Päivärinta and Miska Kukkonen. Päivärinta, who had an impressive 41 points last season, was part of the national team that won the World Championship last spring. Kukkonen also had his best Liiga season with 23 points.
HPK named a group of six leading players who will act as a liaison between the coaches and the team. The team’s so-called alternate alternates are Harri Kainulainen, Olli Korhonen, and Brendan Ranford.
