The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation announced after Friday’s match against Canada that the team’s star forward Kevin Fiala‘s Olympic tournament is over.
Fiala was injured at the end of the Canada match when Tom Wilson tackled him. Fiala fell onto his leg and had to be carried off the ice on a stretcher. He was then taken to the hospital.
The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation reported that Fiala has a lower leg injury.
The loss of Fiala is extremely significant for the Swiss team, as he is one of the country’s brightest NHL stars. Fiala managed to play two games in the tournament with points of 0+1.
This season, Fiala has scored 40 points with 18 goals and 22 assists in 56 games for the Los Angeles Kings.
