Great sorrow: World Championship gold medalist has died suddenly – over 600 NHL games behind him
Former NHL forward Kyle Calder has died at the age of 47. The news was confirmed by his daughter in a message posted on social media. The cause of death has not been disclosed to the public yet.
During his NHL career from 1999 to 2010, Calder played a total of 590 regular season games and 18 playoff games. He scored 114 goals and recorded 294 points during his career. The forward represented several teams, including the Chicago Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers, Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, and Anaheim Ducks.
Throughout his career, Calder was known as a diligent and hardworking player, recognized as a reliable player in the lower lines.
In addition to his club career, Calder also represented the Canadian national team. He played 21 games for the senior national team and participated in three World Championships, winning gold in 2003.
