Finnish star from Florida long absent from the NHL – behind it is a peculiar accident
In the midst of a terrible injury crisis, the NHL’s reigning champion Florida Panthers is once again receiving bad news from the injury list.
The team’s head coach Paul Maurice announced on Wednesday that Finnish forward Eetu Luostarinen will be sidelined for several weeks. The reason for the two-time Stanley Cup champion’s sick leave is not one of the more common ones, as the forward was injured after suffering burns while grilling.
Luostarinen is the Panthers’ sixth most effective scorer in the early season with a point total of 3+7=10 in 18 games.
Maurice also revealed that forward Cole Schwindt will undergo hand surgery. The 24-year-old forward will be out for a significant amount of time.
With the latest injuries, the Panthers are calling up Jack Devine, 22, who has recorded 6+6=12 points in 13 AHL games this early season. This will also be the American’s debut in the NHL.
