Finnish guard for the free market? NHL guy could take a job in the SHL.
Waltteri Ignatjew, 26, played a strong season in the SHL. He made his breakthrough at the professional level and became the number one goalie for Linköping HC.
Ignatjew played 39 games for Linköping. In those, his save percentage was 89.4. The save percentage doesn’t say much about the Finnish goalie’s performance, as Linköping’s season was very difficult, and the team did not reach the playoffs.
Ignatjew has a contract with Linköping for next season as well. However, it is currently uncertain whether the Finnish goalie will continue with the team. This is reported by Expressen.
– If Marcus Högberg decides to return home to Linköping, which is very likely, it could affect Waltteri Ignatjew’s future. The Finn wants a big role next season, and that could be difficult to achieve if Högberg joins the team.
Högberg would be a high-status reinforcement. The club’s product has played 58 NHL games in his career. This season, he has primarily played in the AHL.
