Expressen: The league’s star defender moves to the SHL
KooKoo’s star defender Jimi Suomi leaves the Liiga rinks behind.
Expressen reports that Suomi, 22, will move to Växjö Lakers, which plays in the SHL, for the next season. The Blues-trained player, representing KooKoo for his second season, has scored 8+14=22 points in 35 games this season.
Suomi, who has played twice in the U20 World Championships for the Young Lions, has also represented TPS in the Liiga for three seasons in addition to KooKoo.
Suomi is already the second recent Liiga acquisition by the Swedish club. Växjö Lakers recently also signed Matias Mäntykivi, who is currently representing Ilves, for next season’s roster.
