Elmeri Eronen leaves the Liiga rinks – new team confirmed!
Defender Elmeri Eronen, 31, who represented HPK this season, is leaving the Liiga rinks behind and heading to the top league in the Czech Republic. HC Energie Karlovy Vary has signed a one-year contract with Eronen, which includes an option for a second year.
Eronen played 60 regular season games for HPK this season, recording 3+16=19 points. In the playoffs, Eronen scored 1+2 in nine games.
– I am very pleased that Elmeri is coming here. He is a player who can change the game. He plays simply and effectively and is also capable of producing in the offensive zone. When you add his experience from the Champions League and the national team, we get a player who complements our team both in power play and overall, commented Karlovy Vary’s sports director Jiri Kalous in the club’s statement.
Eronen also represented HPK in the previous seasons of 2019-2021, and he has also played for TPS in the Liiga. Before the past season, Eronen played three seasons in the SHL representing Timrå IK. In recent years, Eronen has also been seen with the Lions in the EHT.
Eronen is the second Finnish acquisition for Karlovy Vary for next season. Yesterday, the club announced that they have signed defender Tobias Winberg.
