TPS defender Tarmo Reunanen will continue his career abroad and will not play for the Turku team in the upcoming season. TPS announced that the 28-year-old defender will use the overseas option in his player contract.

Reunanen returned to TPS last season after several years away. He played 45 games in the regular season and recorded 6+18 points. At the same time, he served as the team captain.

During the season, Reunanen moved in February on a loan agreement that lasted for the remainder of the season to HC Ajoie, which plays in the Swiss top league, where he played until the end of the season.

According to TPS sports director Mika Suoraniemi, Reunanen’s future was discussed over the summer, and moving abroad was one of the options.

– We embarked on a joint project with high expectations, and surely both would have hoped for more from last season. Over the summer, I had open discussions with Tarmo about the future, and the overseas option was on the table. We thank Tarmo for his contribution to TPS and wish him all the best in his new challenges. In building the team, we are prepared for different options and will proceed as planned, Suoraniemi states.

Information about Reunanen’s new club will be announced later.
