Ilves has secured the continuation of one of last season’s successes well into the future.

The Tampere club has exercised the option included in forward Matic Török’s contract and has made a one-year extension agreement with the Slovenian forward. The new contract keeps the 23-year-old Török with Ilves until spring 2029.

The forward, who has represented Slovenia in the World Championships twice, arrived in Finland in the fall of 2019. He played several seasons with KooKoo before moving to Ilves last season.

Török quickly found his place in the Tampere team and rose to a significant role in his first season with Ilves. The forward recorded 18 goals and 19 assists for a total of 37 points in 59 regular season games, ranking fifth in Ilves’ internal scoring list.

Ilves announced Török’s contract extension through its paid Ilves+ service.
