The Colorado Avalanche, one of the biggest favorites for the NHL season championship, has made the expected center acquisition a day before the trade deadline.
The team acquired center Nicolas Roy, 29, from the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday. In return, Toronto receives a conditional first-round draft pick for 2027 and a conditional fifth-round draft pick for 2026.
Roy, who won the Stanley Cup during his career with the Vegas Golden Knights, was playing his first season in Toronto. The 193-centimeter forward earns three million dollars a season.
