Christopher Gibson: the team is changing!
Finnish goalkeeper Christopher Gibson will not continue with the Schwenninger Wild Wings next season. The German club announced that Gibson is among several departures at the end of the season.
Gibson’s season was interrupted. He played only two games in the DEL with a save percentage of 87.1. Additionally, he managed to appear for HC Bolzano in the ICEHL league in four games with a save percentage of 87.9.
The 31-year-old Finnish goalkeeper has had a long career abroad and has played a total of 16 games in the NHL. He was part of the Tampa Bay Lightning organization when the team won the Stanley Cup in 2021, appearing in two NHL games that season. In Finland, Gibson has only been seen in the Liiga during the 2023–24 season with Rauman Lukko.
There are also changes happening in Schwenningen: goalies Michael Bitzer and Bruno Cice as well as forward Tim Gettinger will not continue with the club. Additionally, defensemen Thomas Larkin and Ben Marshall are retiring.
Gibson’s next destination is not yet known.
