Big revelation! IS: This is how much Joachim Blichfeld earns in the League
Tappara announced last Friday one of the biggest contracts in the history of the league, as the club signed a two-year extension with Danish star Joachim Blichfeld, 27.
According to insider information from Ilta-Sanomat, Blichfeld will earn about 180,000 euros net this season, which means over 350,000 euros in gross income with the 2026 taxation.
If the same net amount had been paid under the 2025 taxation, the gross salary would have had to rise to nearly 400,000 euros. Last season, the highest-paid player in the league was Pelicans’ Ryan Lasch, whose earnings were just over 320,000 euros.
This season, the salary peak is said to belong to Kärpät’s Swedish goalkeeper Niklas Rubin, whose net income is reportedly nearly at the same level as Blichfeld’s.
Blichfeld’s extension was surprising, as usually the best foreign players in the league move to leagues in Switzerland or Sweden. A two-year extension was also not Tappara’s original goal.
– When we started to feel out the extension, honestly my first thought was that if we can get him for a year, that would be great, Tappara’s sports director Janne Vuorinen revealed to IS.
Playing his first season in Finland, Blichfeld has been in tremendous form this season. He has recorded 49 points with 23 goals and 26 assists in 38 games and is Tappara’s top scorer in four years.
