The Canadian captain Jamie Benn, who leads the “Finnish mafia” of the Dallas Stars, continues with the team.

The Texas team announces that Benn, 36, has signed a one-year extension worth $885,000.

Next season will be Benn’s 18th with the Dallas Stars. He is a homegrown draft pick from the summer of 2007 in the fifth round.

Benn scored a career-high 89 points in an NHL season. Last season, he recorded 15 goals and 21 assists for 36 points in 60 regular-season games. In the playoffs, he played six games without scoring.

Benn has been the captain of the Stars since 2013.
