Big contract news from Ässi – “Team’s top defenders”
Ässät has utilized the option for next season written in the contract of Petteri Nurmi, 24. The Porvoo club announced this on their website on Friday.
The defender played 38 regular season games this season with stats of 2+14=16. In the playoffs, Nurmi played 12 games with stats of 0+5. Emerging as a key figure in the defense, Nurmi has recorded the most successful passes in the league playoffs.
– Nurmi was one of the top defenders on the team by all traditional measures, so it was a very easy decision to extend the contract for next season as well, commented sports director Jarno Kultanen.
– He has good game reading skills, strong skating, and a good shot. Through a solid summer training, Petteri has the opportunity to take steps forward, as there is still untapped capacity in store, Kultanen continued.
This past season was Nurmi’s first with Ässät. Last season, the defender represented as many as three different clubs, as he also played a few games with Sport and HIFK in addition to HPK.
