Ässille top reinforcement – fresh forward acquisition debuts in home opener
Pori Ässät receives an important reinforcement for their Friday home opener of the Liiga season against Ilves.
Making his debut in the Ässät Liiga lineup is Swedish forward Carl Klingberg, who was the top scorer during Ässät’s preseason.
Klingberg, who transferred from Ilves to Pori this season, had to miss Ässät’s season opener due to the birth of his family’s first child. The child was born a month early.
On Friday, the 35-year-old veteran forward will take his place on Ässät’s top line alongside Cameron Hillis and Alexandre Doucet.
Klingberg played 30 regular season games for Ilves last season, recording 6+6=12 points.
In the previous season 2024–25, the Swede was clearly more effective. At that time, he scored 30 points (13+17) in 39 regular season games.
Ässät heads into their home opener with a loss on their back. The Pori team opened their season on Tuesday in Oulu, where Kärpät was stronger with a score of 3–1.
Ilves, on the other hand, got a victorious start to their season by defeating Lukko in Rauma with a score of 2–0.
