Ässät icon defender Oliver Lauridsen at Yle: “Young players need to understand…”
The TPS defender Oliver Lauridsen was suspended for eight games on Sunday evening due to his reckless tackle during the weekend’s match against Ässät.
Former Ässät forward Jesse Joensuu surprises Yle by revealing that he does not believe the tackle on Petteri Riihinen by the Danish defender deserved such a long suspension.
– In my opinion, the situation does not warrant an eight-game suspension, Joensuu surprises and emphasizes the responsibility of the puck-carrying player as the recipient of the tackle.
– Lauridsen is an exemplary and warm person who has two small boys. He will do anything for the team, Joensuu defends Lauridsen, with whom the former Ässät forward says he is on close terms.
– Young players need to understand that it is really dangerous to be a puck-carrying player because everyone wants to tackle and surprise you, Joensuu reminds.
Riihinen, who was injured during Lauridsen’s tackle, is reportedly doing well under the circumstances, according to Ässät’s communications manager Jaakko Ruusunen.
