Ässät announced their new captain – “The greatest honor of my career”
Pori Ässät announced their captaincy for the upcoming Liiga season on Thursday. The place of captain, taken by Jan-Mikael Järvinen, will be filled this season by Peter Tiivola.
The 32-year-old Tiivola, who has also won a World Championship silver in his career, will begin his third season in the patapaidassa.
– This is the greatest honor of my career. Pori Ässät is a very important club to me, and when you look at the history of the captains that have been here, this is indeed a huge recognition, Peter Tiivola commented in the Ässät press release.
– As a captain, I aim to be myself. I have always been quite vocal in the locker room and I strive to create a positive atmosphere in the team where everyone can be themselves. Through that, everyone can play at their best level, captain Tiivola shares.
– We have a strong and versatile captaincy. Experience and life experience were emphasized in the selection of the captain, Ässät’s head coach Jarno Pikkarainen commented on the choices.
The vice-captains for Ässät this season will be Rami Määttä, Carl Klingberg, Petteri Nikkilä, and Feetu Knihti.
