Evander Kane, who has had a long career in the NHL, has made a new career choice. The Canadian forward, embroiled in controversies, is leaving North America behind and moving to Russia’s KHL.

The 35-year-old forward’s agent, Dan Milstein, revealed the decision on the DFO Insider program.

– We had a few things going on here in North America, but Evander has decided to take his talent to Russia, Milstein said.

His future KHL team has not yet been disclosed.

Kane’s last NHL team was the Vancouver Canucks, which he represented last season. The forward collected 13 goals and 31 points in 71 games but was sidelined from his team’s final games of the season. Kane also did not participate in the season-ending interviews.

Previously, Kane played for the Edmonton Oilers from 2022 to 2025. He was part of the team as they advanced to the Stanley Cup finals twice.

Kane’s career has been filled with numerous controversies both on and off the ice. The San Jose Sharks released the forward in early 2022 after he violated NHL and AHL COVID-19 protocols. Additionally, his issues with teammates have been reported over the years.
