Goaltender Akira Schmid is moving from the Vegas Golden Knights to the Florida Panthers in a trade where the Panthers gave up a third-round draft pick.
The 26-year-old Swiss goaltender played 34 games in the recently concluded NHL season in Vegas. Before joining the Golden Knights, he represented the New Jersey Devils.
During five NHL seasons, Schmid has played a total of 82 games, and his save percentage is 89.8.
The goaltending situation for the Florida Panthers, led by Aleksander Barkov, is undergoing significant changes, as Sergei Bobrovsky, Daniil Tarasov, and Louis Domingue are set to have their contracts expire, and they are not expected to continue with the team.
