The Colorado Avalanche has signed a contract extension with Czech forward Martin Necas for eight years.

The contract will take effect from next season and runs through to 2034. The total value of the contract is 92 million dollars, which guarantees Necas an average annual income of 11.5 million dollars.

Necas, 26, moved from the Carolina Hurricanes to Colorado during last season. He scored a career-high 27+56=83 points in 79 regular-season games last season. In 11 games this season, Necas has recorded 7+6=13 points.

Necas will earn 6.5 million dollars this season. He has played a total of 452 regular-season games in his NHL career (131+208=339) and 66 playoff games (12+23=35).
