A familiar points machine from the league rejected a historic offer – a shocking transfer to the enemy camp!
Forward David Tomasek continues his career in the Czech league with Dynamo Pardubice starting next season. The transfer was first reported by Hokey.cz and Expressen.
According to Expressen, Tomasek’s contract with Pardubice is long, lasting six or seven years. The contract makes him one of the highest-paid hockey players in Europe. Sources indicate that Tomasek earns about 80,000 euros a month gross.
Pardubice’s rival club Sparta Prague also tried to bring the star forward to their team and made him the largest offer in the club’s history. The club announced the unsuccessful attempt to bring back their own product in a statement.
– When a return began to feel like a realistic option again, we made a contract offer that would have made him the highest-paid player in Sparta Prague’s history, clearly above the club’s previous salary level. The offer also included a clearly defined sporting role as one of the team’s leading players alongside Filip Chlapik.
Tomasek played 22 games in the NHL this season, where he scored 3+2=5 points. Last summer, he signed a one-year NHL contract with Edmonton worth about 1.2 million dollars. The parties terminated the contract around Christmas, and Tomasek returned to Sweden to SHL club Färjestad.
Last season, he was the most effective player in the entire SHL and won the scoring title with stats of 24+33=57. This season, he has played 11 games for Färjestad with stats of 5+6=11.
During his career, Tomasek has also played in the Liiga for JYP Jyväskylä.
