A familiar man from Jukurit changes Liiga club – new address revealed
KooKoo has to address the injury situation in their defense. The Kouvola club has made an agreement with Niilo Romppanen.
The 24-year-old defenseman’s contract with KooKoo runs until October 31, 2026. Romppanen has played the last three seasons with Jukurit.
Romppanen has already played 151 regular season games in the Liiga, all with Jukurit. In those games, he has scored 6+16=22 points. Additionally, the defenseman has played one playoff game.
A product of Jokipojat, he has also gained experience in the Mestis league. He has represented JoKP, Peliitat, and SaPKo in the league.
KooKoo’s sports director Antti Tuomenoksa states that the injuries in defense forced the club to take action.
– The absences in defense and the heavy game load required us to react. Niilo Romppanen has experience in the Liiga, he is ready to join the team on short notice and bring depth to the defense, KooKoo’s sports director Tuomenoksa commented on the player acquisition in a statement.
Romppanen, for his part, says he is ready for a new challenge.
– I am really excited to come to Kouvola and KooKoo to play, and my goal is to help the team in every possible way. See you at the rink, commented KooKoo’s new reinforcement.
