Tough setback for Tappara – power defender leaves the league
The league’s reigning champion Tappara loses one of its most important defenders. The Daniel Brickley, who has represented the Tampere team for the last two seasons, will continue his career in the Czech top league.
Karlovy Vary announces that they have signed a 31-year-old American defender to a 1+1 year contract.
Brickley quickly became one of the most effective defenders in the league while at Tappara. He played a total of 109 regular season games with the team and collected an impressive 68 points.
In the recently concluded season, the 191-centimeter defender recorded stats of 6+25=31 in 51 regular season games. In the playoffs, he finished with 2+6=8 points in 18 games and played a crucial role in Tappara’s journey to the Finnish championship.
Brickley, who has also played in the NHL, will have two Finnish teammates in the Czech top league. Next season, the Karlovy Vary roster will also include defenders Tobias Winberg and Elmeri Eronen.
