Tappara, the winner of the Finnish championship: three contract news!
The Finnish championship winner Tappara announced three contract news on Thursday. Aapeli and Iivari Räsänen will continue with Tappara on one-year contracts, and Juuso Nykänen has signed a two-year extension with the club.
Tappara’s own product Aapeli Räsänen, 27, has represented the club for the last two seasons. Last season, he finished with 27 points (17+10) in 40 regular-season games and 5 points (2+3) in 18 playoff games. Before moving to Tappara, Räsänen played four seasons with KalPa.
– Aapeli Räsänen had a strong season as a center in one of our top lines. Thanks to his play around the net, face-off skills, and strong two-way game, he will be a big player for us next season as well. It’s great to have our own product continue in the Tappara jersey, Tappara’s GM Janne Vuorinen commented on Räsänen’s extension in the club’s announcement.
The younger of the Räsänen brothers, Iivari, 24, won the Finnish championship with KalPa a year ago. He transferred to his youth club Tappara during the past season and played 17 games for the club with 2 points (1+1). Tappara exercised the option in Räsänen’s contract for next season.
– Iivari Räsänen integrated well into the team and has shown, as a homegrown player, that he has a strong heart for the game. Unfortunately, an injury hindered Iivari’s play towards the end of the season, but due to his strong attitude, he has earned the use of the contract option from the club, Vuorinen commented.
Nykänen, 22, played 43 regular-season games for Tappara last season, scoring 7 points (3+4) and 3 points (0+3) in ten playoff games. He has played Liiga games for Tappara over the last two seasons.
– Juuso Nykänen has risen to the league roster through Tappara’s U20 team. Juuso’s development as a player is a testament to his strong work ethic, high standards for himself, and unwavering desire to play for the team. We need players like this in the future as well, and it’s great that Juuso will continue his physical play in Tampere in the coming seasons, Vuorinen smiles.
