Strong reinforcement for the League – Kiekko-Espoo announced a new forward

Kiekko-Espoo has made a new player acquisition, as Swedish forward Lukas Öberg joins the team. The 26-year-old forward is moving to Espoo from the SHL club Malmö Redhawks.

Öberg has a long career in Sweden’s top league. The right-handed shooting forward has played a total of 349 regular season games in the SHL, where he has collected 119 points with a score of 77+42.

The Swede has represented, in addition to Malmö Redhawks, Frölunda and Örebro at the top league level. He has experience from a total of eight SHL seasons.

In the last two seasons, Öberg played in Malmö. Last season, the forward scored 18 points with 13+5 in 52 regular season games and continued in the playoffs with 2+1 in six games.

Öberg’s most productive season in the SHL was seen in Örebro, where he scored 17 goals.

The 182-centimeter forward has also achieved international success in his career. Öberg won a bronze medal with Sweden at the U20 World Championships in 2020. In the bronze match, Sweden defeated the Young Lions 3–2, and Öberg scored the winning goal.

Öberg was drafted into the NHL in 2020 when the San Jose Sharks selected him in the seventh round with the 206th pick.
