Strong player signing from the Jokers – World Championship gold goalie caught!
The Mestis team Jokerit announces that they have made a 1+1 year contract with goalkeeper Veini Vehviläinen.
28-year-old Vehviläinen joined Jokerit at the end of October on a two-month contract. The accomplished goalkeeper quickly impressed in the Jokerit jersey, playing six games with a save percentage of 91.1.
– Veini showed in his first games that he is in excellent form, and it was immediately clear to us that we wanted to extend his contract. The negotiations went well, and we quickly reached an agreement. We are very pleased that Veini decided to continue with Jokerit, sports director Olli-Pekka Yrjänheikki stated in the announcement.
Previously, Vehviläinen has represented JYP, TPS, Sport, and Kärpät in Finland. He has a Finnish championship from the spring of 2018.
In addition to the league, Vehviläinen has experience in the SHL, AHL, and NHL for one game each. He won gold at the World Championships with the Lions in the spring of 2019.
