SaiPalle tough setback – the absences of two key players are prolonged
Bad news has come from the injury situation of SaiPa. In the recent health status report of the Lappeenranta club, it is mentioned that the estimated absence times for captain Samuli Niinisaaren and forward Samu Baun have been extended.
Niinisaaren is expected to be out for about another month. SaiPa assesses the defender’s situation more grimly in their weekly bulletin, as just a week ago, the length of absence was reported to be 2–3 weeks.
The captain of SaiPa was injured at the end of September against Kärpät. Before being sidelined, he managed to play eight Liiga matches and scored three goals in them.
Baun’s return to the rink is still awaited. The forward’s absence is estimated to last about two months, while the previous update gave an estimate of eight weeks. His return is therefore also delayed a bit.
Bau has played only once in the current Liiga season. His only match so far was the season opener played on September 1.
The third player on SaiPa’s absence list is forward Miikka Salomäki. His playing condition is monitored daily, and no exact timeline for his return has been announced.
On the other hand, forward Patrik Siikanen, who was injured in last week’s CHL match, is not included in SaiPa’s latest absence list.
