Reid Gardiner: new team!
Familiar from the league, Canadian forward Reid Gardiner is moving to Timrå IK with a two-year contract. Gardiner transferred to Växjö Lakers this season from Kärpät.
In the concluded season, Gardiner recorded 15 goals and 15 assists for a total of 30 points in 49 games in Växjö. Before moving to Sweden, Gardiner played several seasons in the league and became known as an effective goal scorer. During his five seasons spent in Finland, he accumulated a total of 184 (103+81) points in 235 games.
Particularly memorable was the 2022–2023 season when Gardiner won the league’s goal scoring title with 27 goals while playing for JYP. In Finland, he also represented HIFK and Kärpät.
– Reid has proven his level both in Finland and last season in Växjö. He is a right-handed shooting forward who consistently scores points. We are looking forward to seeing him on the ice at SCA Arena, commented Timrå’s sports director Kent Norberg on the new acquisition in a press release.
Gardiner is eagerly anticipating this new phase of his career.
– I am really looking forward to putting on the Timrå jersey in the fall and playing in front of the home crowd at SCA Arena. I have heard a lot of good things about the city and the organization, so I am very excited about the move and starting, Gardiner says.
