Pasi Nurminen got a surprise job from Liiga!
The league club Lahti Pelicans has quietly made a significant change to its board.
Former top goalie Pasi Nurminen, 49, has returned as the chairman of the Pelicans. The appointment has not been officially announced, but the change is visible on the Pelicans’ website. Nurminen was already a member of the board.
In Finland, the first to report on the matter was Aitio, to whom Nurminen and the outgoing chairman Tommi Kurkaa had confirmed the information.
Ilta-Sanomat speculated that the change may have occurred at the end of August when the Pelicans held their annual general meeting.
Nurminen was for a long time one of the main owners of the Pelicans and also briefly served as the club’s chairman and the CEO of the group in the fall of 2020. Nurminen’s previous position ended due to criminal suspicions in 2020.
The Pelicans are currently third from the bottom in the league standings. The team has lost five of its last six matches.
